The Doefriends Interview
This interview was taken 21/MAY/25, over e-mail.
Eternalweb: What software/hardware do you use to make your music?
Doefriends: in terms of software, i mainly use ableton live and have been for many years. i use a lot of old super nintendo soundfonts and chiptune sounds. im a big fan of trackers too, lsdj and lgpt are my go to ones. for hardware i only use two mics, a sm57 and a mxl 770, never let me down. i play a faith acoustic guitar and a fender telecaster, i also have a few synths and tape machines. i like to play around with modular a lot too, synthesisers are just really cool and fun.
E: Who are your musical influences?
D: its mostly transfems and furries, sometimes both. recent favs include the new saoirse dream self-titled album, pom-pom guillotine by lizzy's personal army, and the new devi mccallion is really good too! also! beautiful extension cord by (t-t)b is really good! those guys rock!
E: Have you made music in other genres before?
D: genre is always such a fun question because there really is no one genre that i think any modern musician sticks to, especially on the web. everyone takes a lil of everything and weaves it into something new. right now i've been playing a lot of bossa nova style guitar, but at same time i've been having fun with noise music on the modular. i've played in a bunch in a bunch of different bands too, a few emo and noisy rock bands, some synth and electro pop groups. but none of those descriptors are really accurate, everyone brings over every song and style they've heard and liked before into the mix. a cool musical amalgamation ~!
E: When did you start making music?
D: i started making music when i was around 10 or 11, started playing with chiptune tech and audacity and then with garageband. when i was 12 my dad's friend gave me a cracked copy of ableton live 8 and the rest is history lol.
E: What software/hardware do you use to draw?
D: i currently use krita and blender with a huion kamvas 13. i also have a journal and a fountain pen that i do most of my doodling with.
